Kiwi is 8 months

Baby dandelion Ten Thousand Hour MamaThis post is really late, but work/life/everything has been a bit much. Life ebbs and flows, and we’ve been at high tide for a while now.

But Kiwi moseys along, oblivious to deadlines and the empty fridge and the thick layer of dog hair on the unvacuumed carpet. (Ok, she actually does notice all that hair, especially considering a large amount of it ends up in her mouth.)

Kiwi is now mobile. She was so close to crawling for what seemed like forever, and then one day she finally managed to move forward instead of backward. She never looked back.

Finn wised up pretty quickly. He is very tolerant of Kiwi’s overenthusiastic love, but when her pterodactyl squeals and fistfuls of fur get to be too much, he just moves someplace else.

Peeper hasn’t quite gotten that concept yet.

“You can move your body if you don’t want Kiwi to get you,” I say probably eighteen million times throughout the day. But when Peeper sees her little sister crawling toward her, she screeches, cries or pushes/kicks/hits the baby.

The violence has done nothing to Kiwi’s status as president of the Peeper Fan Club.

We’re witnessing Kiwi coming into herself, getting to be more Kiwi-like. As we get to know her better, we compare her less to her sister.

She is simply herself: a giggly, talkative, observant munchkin who, fortunately, seems to enjoy the taste of dog hair.

Oh my gosh. I loved this post. Particularly the “President of Peeper Fan Club” line and the fact that now that she is coming into her own you are comparing them less. I keep wondering when I’ll stop doing that with my little guy. Right now as he is screaming and not able to calm he is VERY much like his brother was at this age. 4 months is FUN.

Eight months looks wonderful from this side of the fence. 😉

Hang in there Jenni. I feel like 4 months is SO HARD. I really saw a big difference around 5 1/2 or 6 months. It does get better.

Wishing you some calm and quiet and sweet moments to balance the screaming!

I can’t decide which picture is my favorite! You’re capturing some wonderful memories! And yes, it’s a big deal for the entire household when the little one becomes mobile. 🙂 Happy 8 months, Kiwi!

Thank you Monica! I’ve been trying to be more cognizant of capturing the great moments—and then putting down the camera. 😉
