Family Christmas game: Laughing All the Way

Christmas is about the only time of year when my whole family gets together. And when we get together, we play games. (Ask me sometime about our tradition of Star Wars Drinking Monopoly. Epic.) Now that we’ve grown up and some of us have kids, though, we needed a more family-friendly game to play at the holidays. So this year, I made one up: a family Christmas game that can be as naughty or nice as you want!

Imagine this family Christmas game as a mix between Cards Against Humanity and The Game of Things (which if you’ve never played before, you definitely should—it’s one of our favorites!). Basically, your family answers silly holiday questions or fill-in-the-blanks, and everyone has to guess who said what.

Pie is optional—but strongly recommended.

Laughing All the Way: Rules for a family Christmas game

  1. Download and print the Laughing All the Way printable. Cut along the dotted lines to separate the cards.
  2. Gather your family (4-8 players works best), the family Christmas game cards, pens or pencils, and strips of paper.
  3. Everyone will take turns being the “reader.” The reader picks a card from the face-down pile and reads it aloud. Everyone (including the reader) writes their response, plus their name, on a slip of paper then hands it to the reader.
  4. Once the reader has received all the responses, she or he reads them out loud.
  5. The person to the reader’s left guesses who wrote one response. If she or he gets it right, they get to guess again. If they get it wrong, it’s the next person to the left’s turn.
  6. Continue around the circle until all the responses are correctly guessed. That’s one round!
  7. Each correct guess earns the guesser one point.
  8. Take turns being the reader. You can play to 20 points, or as long as you want!

That’s it! Super simple!

So before your next holiday gathering, print out this Family Christmas game download and get ready to laugh!

What a fun game for the whole family! And I’d definitely say pie or cake is a required game accessory for our family 😉

This looks like so much fun. I know I enjoyed Cards Against Humanity so I might have to give this one a try during winter break.

What a fun game! Christmas always means game playing in my family too (nothing quite as epic sounding as that Star Wars drinking Monopoly!). This looks like a great addition, especially with littler ones around.

That is brilliant!! I like Cards Against Humanity/Apples to Apples but have gotten pretty tired of the same old cards/attitude, so this is such a great idea!
